Hundreds More from Migrant Caravan Arrive near U.S. Border

Tijuana officials reportedly said 369 caravan migrants arrived in their border city on Wednesday, in addition to the nearly 400 on Tuesday.

Jean Guerrero, an investigative reporter for KPBS, tweeted that Tijuana officials claimed an additional 369 migrant caravan members arrived on November 14. More than 300 reportedly made their way to breakfast at Desayunador Salesiano on Wednesday morning.

Officials said these migrants are in addition to 374 who arrived on Tuesday, Guerrero tweeted. The KPBS reporter said she spoke with five male migrants from El Salvador who said they plan to jump the fence to get into the U.S.

Mexican state and federal police escorted migrant groups through the border state of Sonora on Monday as the splinters made their way to the U.S. border, Breitbart News reported.

Video released by Mexican news agencies captured the arrival of the migrant caravan groups at the U.S. Mexico border on Tuesday, Breitbart News’ John Binder reported. In one video, migrants can be seen climbing one of the border walls in Tijuana.

Fox News also reported that hundreds of breakaway groups arrived at the border. Responding to an inquiry, DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman told Fox, “As we have said repeatedly, being a member of a caravan doesn’t give you any special rights to enter the country. If they arrive at a Port of Entry, they will have to wait in line in keeping with the lawful processes at our ports of entry.”

“If they attempt to enter illegally,” Waldman continued, “they will have violated U.S. criminal law and in accordance with the President’s proclamation and the Interim Final Rule they would be ineligible for asylum.”
