Nelson: We’re Seeing Stronger Storms Because of Rising Temperatures

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) stated that there are stronger storms due to increasing temperatures.

Nelson urged Floridians to listen to evacuation orders and the advice of officials.

Later, co-host John Berman asked, “Are we seeing, in your mind, stronger storms as a result of warming temperatures?”

Nelson answered, “Yes. The earth is heating up. The hotter water — that extra heat is absorbed primarily by the oceans. That hotter water serves as a fuel for the counterclockwise winds. And that is the phenomenon that is occurring. So here we are in October, the Gulf of Mexico is hot.”
