Wednesday, Sen. Orrin Hatch said he disagreed with President Donald Trump’s comments that Germany is “totally controlled by Russia” because of “massive oil and gas deals.”
Hatch said, “I don’t agree with that. The Germans wouldn’t agree with that. They are very strong people. I just met personally with Angela Merkel over there, and I have really the highest opinion of her and those who are with her.”
He continued, “I think sometimes he can be a little too critical of the other counterparts, and I don’t think he should be critical. She’s really good.”
He added, “I really like here I think she is one of the great woman leaders of this world. She was very gracious to us. Answered every question.”
