Texas DPS Finds Migrants Loaded in Tractor-Trailer near Border

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper working in Laredo, Texas, observed a group of people suspected to be in the U.S. illegally get into the back of a commercial tractor-trailer. The trooper, working under Operation Lone Star stopped the truck for an inspection and found 11 people.

Texas Police Find 50 Migrants in Tractor-Trailer

Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol troopers found 50 migrants crammed into the back of an enclosed commercial trailer. Troopers foiled the human smuggling attempt as they investigated reports of human trafficking in Laredo Wednesday. Two suspected human smugglers were arrested in connection with the event.

Border Patrol agents in the five Texas-based border sectors apprehended nearly 26,000 migrants during a six-day period ending on July 9. Nearly 10,000 of those crossed into a single Texas border town. In response to the growing Texas border crisis, Governor Greg Abbott orders law enforcement and National Guard soldiers to arrest migrants and return them to the border.

For the second time in less than 24 hours, migrants are dead following a crash as smugglers attempted to avoid arrest. Texas Department of Public Safety officials report that four migrants died and two others are in critical condition when a Jeep driven by a suspected human smuggler crashed into a tractor-trailer while fleeing from law enforcement. Officials report the driver is in critical condition (brain dead).

Border Patrol agents in the five Texas-based sectors apprehended nearly 138,000 migrants in May, according to a source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This is up by approximately 10,000 over the previous month. If the migrants apprehended in the Texas-based sectors were put into a brand new city, it would be the 25th largest city in Texas by population — greater than Waco.

Kidnapped American Rescued in Mexican Border City

FBI agents teamed up with U.S. Border Patrol agents and Mexican military officials to rescue a U.S. citizen being held by kidnappers in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Nuevo Laredo is the headquarters for Los Zetas Cartel, also known as CDN. The rescue effort led to the recovery of 14 others being held against their will by the cartel.

33 Migrants Arrested by Texas Troopers on Ranch near Border

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers assigned to border security duty arrested 33 migrants on state charges of criminal trespass. The troopers, assigned to Operation Lone Star, arrested the migrants on private ranches near the Texas-Mexico border.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents found a group of nearly 30 migrants hiding in the sleeping compartment of a commercial tractor. Agents and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers also teamed up to apprehend more than 20 migrants being warehoused in motel rooms.

Armed Human Smugglers Arrested in Texas After Crash on Railroad Track near Border

A multi-agency effort led to the arrest of two United States citizens accused of smuggling five migrants in remote South Texas. After fleeing a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint, the two smugglers led law enforcement officers on a vehicle pursuit that ended when the truck crashed onto railroad tracks in La Salle County, Texas. After searching the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded handgun.
